Description
Kerikeri Mission buildings. Printed on front of post card: 'Kerikeri Bay of Islands NZ'. 'First Mission Station in NZ. Wooden building in centre is oldest house in NZ built 1819-1820; had shutters to windows to hide scenes of bloodshed and cannibalism. Stone House to left built 1833'. The word 'First' has been crossed out in ink and '2nd' written in ink. Reverse reads: 'New Zealand Post card' with coat of arms, 'Pennystamp for all places', printed at right '(carte postale) / The Far North Series / Ke 1 EJ Derby, Publisher, Russell, Bay of Islands, NZ'. Handwritten: 'With Grannies best wishes and Kind Love', addressed to 'Ralph Kemp 1908'. Another hand has written: 'Above written by Mrs James Kemp Ralph's grandmother'.
