Description

'Tommy' (Dorothy) Aickin, in nurse uniform. One of three daughters of Eva (Coates) and Hugh Aickin; Elizabeth, Dorothy and Joy, the youngest. Tommy worked as a nurse on a tuberculosis ward during WWII and caught the disease herself. She died at Ruatuna in 1944. Handwritten on reverse 'To Tom, with lots of love from Bette / Mrs Aickin 63 Woodside'.
